Sound: Theory & Practice – The Art of Sound in Filmmaking

By Neil Hurley

Neil began his involvement in the filmmaking industry in 2004 when he travelled to India to assist in recording sound on the feature length documentary ‘Tibetans, A Life in Exile’ for Six Degree Productions. Having developed a strong interest in sound for picture Neil has become very involved in sound recording in Cork. He has worked on various corporate projects and short films by Cork based film makers. He has also recorded sound for TG4 and for Granada Television. During the summer of 2009 Neil recorded sound for ‘The Dublin Writer’s Room’, an hour long video installation. He has also given location sound tuition to students of ‘TV and Video Production’ in Coláiste Stiofán Naofa and to BTEI students of Digital Film Making in St Johns College.
